Who we are

The Queensland Irish Association Pipe Band (QIAPB) is a social band of pipers and drummers from a range of backgrounds, nationalities and levels of experience. The band plays under the leadership of Pipe Major Bruce Grice and wears the Ancient Urquhart tartan as part of their iconic green uniform.

QIAPB is a community focused and entertaining pipe band that promotes both Irish and other Celtic cultures through our music.  The band loves playing at community events and has a reputation for lively and energetic performances, engaging and entertaining the crowds with a mixture of traditional and contemporary music from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Breton, Asturia and, of course, Australia and bring a twist with modern music included in our repertoire.

We currently have around 40 active,  supporting and playing members with a number of learners coming through the ranks.

Although based in Brisbane, QIAPB travels regularly to play at events such as the Australian Celtic Festival at Glen Innes and the Maclean Highland Gathering. The band has also travelled regularly to Lorient in France to take part in the Festival Interceltique de Lorient.
